The exhibition "The gaucho myth" arrives at the National Library
This Thursday 9 from December, The Mariano Moreno National Library will exhibit in its Leopoldo Marechal room the exhibition “El mito gaucho”.
from 19 hours, the exhibition itself proposes a journey through the history of gaucho literature, since its inception in the days of independence, going through the classics of the XIX century like “Fausto” by Estanislao del Campo or “Martín Fierro” by José Hernández, until reaching its consolidation in the centenary of the country in 1910 and then ending up in the dispute over the figure of the gaucho as in the case of anarchism and later Peronism, edges little frequented by the usual studies of the genre.
The show also seeks to give an account of the gaucho presence in formats such as theater, music, cinema and cartoons; as well as exhibiting some of the most recent rewritings and reinterpretations of the myth from the perspective of gender and literary experimentation.
Simultaneously, in the square of the reader Rayuela the photographic series "Gauchos y gaúchos" by Christian Delgado will be exhibited, where you can see the survival of the Creole culture in the present, both in our country and in Uruguay and southern Brazil.
It should be noted that the sample catalog can be obtained in printed format at the National Library, or download it by doing Click here!
