The opera "Eurydice", by American composer Matthew Aucoin can be seen on Saturday 4 December via satellite broadcast by the Beethoven Foundation.

This show comes to the country as part of the satellite broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera in New York live HD, and can be enjoyed live and direct from 15 at the El Nacional Theater on Corrientes Avenue 960 (entries via PlateaNet).

With "Eurydice", Aucoin proposes a captivating new version of history. With libretto by Sarah Ruhl, adapted from his acclaimed eponymous work of 2003, the opera reinvents the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus, who tries to harness the power of music to rescue his beloved Eurydice from the underworld, but from Eurydice's point of view.

The opera is directed by Yannick Nézet-Séguin and a new immersive staging by Mary Zimmerman. Soprano Erin Morley plays the lead role, with baritone Joshua Hopkins, as Orpheus.

For his part, countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński will be his alter ego from another world. Bass-baritone Nathan Berg will play Eurydice's father and resident of the underworld and tenor Barry Banks as Hades himself..

This live stream is part of the Met's award-winning Live in HD Cycle, that brings opera to theaters around the world and that in Argentina finds its representation in the Beethoven Foundation, seeking to spread classical music and bring it closer to everyone.
