The Proa Foundation presents the exhibition "Labyrinths"
Under the curatorship of Cecilia Jaime and Mayra Zolezzi, Saturday 3 September the Fundación Proa will inaugurate the exhibition "Labyrinths", which can be enjoyed until November.
This exhibition will cover four rooms of the Fundación Proa and will seek to reflect on this construction that, according to Jorge Luis Borges: “It is curious that man builds a space to lose himself”.
In this way and starting from the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, and traveling through different cultures over time, the presence of the labyrinth and its various meanings appear in the construction of works by contemporary artists in dialogue with other ancient images.
The engravings of the city of Jericho, Leon Ferrari's plans, or the constructions of Piranesi, are some of the topics to delve into the concept of the labyrinth in civilization and within ourselves.
On the other hand, the current circumstances will also make the public glimpse the labyrinth as a time to travel until discovering an exit, that is always found.
using technology, spaces are transformed thanks to the creativity of artists: Dan Graham, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Regina Silveira, Jorge Miño, Horace Zabala, among many others.
