Until the beginning of March, the exhibition “Country with a Future” can be seen at Vigil Gonzales, which brings together a series of works corresponding to the Peruvian artist based in Sweden José Luis Martinat.

This exhibition has the collaboration of the Peruvian editorial Meier Ramírez and is an unpublished work that uses fragments of the vinyl of the same name.. Within this context, this vinyl 12 inches has fifty interlocking grooves, closed loops that constantly reproduce electoral slogans taken from Peruvian political history. The work seeks to convey feelings of hope, strategically repeating words like “change” and “transformation”.

The works can be seen on Avenida Presidente Roque Sáenz Peña 628, fourth floor, In Buenos Aires city, of 15 a 19 hours.

José Luis Martinat's career is distinguished by his dedication to the study of speeches and the visuality of political power. His critical approach has been forged through a meticulous analysis of the visual system of American politics., applying concepts such as the architectural extraction of political speech scenarios through laser engraving.

Jose Luis Martinat, currently residing and working in Gothenburg, Sweden, uses various materials such as film, the drawing, the photograph, writing and sound in his artistic practice. His ability to appropriate, manipulating and distorting pre-existing materials redefines their original meaning, generating new associations and interpretations.

The exhibition “País con Futuro” reflects his deep interest in images as purely artificial creations and in how they express reality.. Martinat has recently intervened in symbolic materials of Peruvian culture, like canvas and brick, exploring the connection between contemporary art and cultural roots.

José Luis Martinat's career has achieved international recognition over the years. His participation in the Sharjah Biennale in 2009 and the outstanding exhibitions in institutions such as the Telefónica Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) from Lima, Malmö Museum, the Wysing Art Center in Cambridge and the Lima Art Museum (MALI) has cemented his position as a visionary artist.

In recent years, He has collaborated on notable projects with his brother, José Carlos Martinat, in renowned institutions such as the Perez Art Museum in Miami (PAMM) in 2018, the MoMA in New York in 2017 and the TATE Modern in London in 2013.
