The first edition of Black Week will arrive in Buenos Aires
Of the 1 al 5 October 2024 The first edition of the international black police literary festival will be held in Buenos Aires, Black Week BA.
This event, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires in collaboration with the Black Week of Gijón, will bring together important figures of crime and suspense literature from different countries, becoming one of the most relevant meetings of the genre in the region.
The activities will take place at the Ricardo Güiraldes Public Library (Talcahuano 1261), the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (PAINTING, Avenida Presidente Figueroa Alcorta 3415) and the Cultural Center of Spain in Buenos Aires (comb, Paraná 1159). The festival will feature the participation of writers from Chile, Spain, Italy, Peru, Uruguay, Sweden and Norway, together with an important representation of Argentine authors. Among the international guests, Helene Flood stands out (Norway), Stina Jackson (Sweden), Santiago Roncagliolo (Peru), Susana Martín Gijón (Spain) y Gian Luca Campagna (Italy), while from the local level authors such as Claudia Piñeiro will participate, Almada Jungle, Martín Kohan, William Martinez, María Inés Krimer, Florence Canale, Juan Sasturain, Jorge Fernández Díaz and Florencia Etcheves, among others.
Semana Negra BA will offer a wide agenda of activities that will include keynote talks, conversations, Tributes, samples, guided tours of the City Forensic Museum and a forensic laboratory. There will also be a literary work clinic for projects in development, directed by Guillermo Martínez, Horacio Convertini and María Inés Krimer, with the participation of editors such as Marcelo Panozzo and Paola Lucantis. The literary projects were previously selected through an open call.
further, within the framework of the Books program, Camera, Action, Interaction between selected publishers and local and international production companies will be promoted with the aim of adapting books of the police genre., mystery or thriller to audiovisual formats such as series, miniseries and feature films. Publishers will also have a book sales space during the event.
The first edition of Semana Negra BA has the support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the Swedish Embassy, the Cultural Center of Spain in Buenos Aires (comb), the General Archive of the Nation (AGN), the Forensic Medical Corps, The Screenwriting Laboratory, MUBI and the Grand Brizo Hotel.
