The seventh edition of the Korean Film Festival will be online
Presented by the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Korean Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in our country, the Han Cine Festival will have its seventh edition online.
The appointment will take place between 2 and the 22 November and users can enjoy it for free through the CineAr platform.
It should be noted that the Korean Film Festival will be, also, part of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival and has the support of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), the Seoul Independent Film Festival and ARSAT technical support - will offer a selection of 20 recently made films, representing a panorama of current Korean cinematography.
The director of the traditional Buenos Aires venue Andrés Duprat referred to the possibility of partnering with Han Cine to carry out this edition and stated that “South Korea has become, in the last decades, in an example of how to build a cinematography rich in forms and variety, and successful in public, without losing identity ".
In that context, the Asian country "has transformed its geography and climates into part of the universal imagination, learning from the world and creating our own cinema ", he added. At the same time, the manager explained that “the Oscar and the Palme d'Or that‘ Parasite ’received, de Bong Joon-ho entre 2019 Y 2020 they are not by chance but the product of an extraordinary process ".
For Duprat, it is a fact that the museum is “happy and proud” to be associated with Han Cine in “this atypical edition, in a year in which cinema has suffered like never before ".
Regarding the selection of films to be screened, “it shows that the pandemic did not stop Korean cinema and that it will continue to be a rare creative engine.. We celebrate then that the Han goes on, May we see these extraordinary works and may art continue to serve as a refuge, consolation and hope, a necessary light in such dark times ".
Diversity in the programming is expected for this festival, with titles in different genres such as romantic comedies and dramas, even documentaries, animation and independent film.
Among the films that make up this edition are "The face reader" and "A taxi driver: the heroes of Gwangju ", both starring Song Kang-ho, star actor of the award-winning “Parasite”. Also action movies, like "High Speed Squad" and "Gangnam Blues", with actor Lee Min-ho, and warlike "Battlefront" and the classic thriller located on the border between the two Korea, "Shared security area", from the famous director Park Chan-wook. The police officer is present with "Diary of a murderer" and "Hidden crimes", this last, starring Kim Yoon-seok, who in turn is director of "Minority", also on screen.
further, for the first time, Han Cine has the special participation of the Seoul Independent Film Festival, which will offer a selection of five titles for the Argentine public. The program is completed by the box office "The great coup" and "Murder", the animated film "A brave dog", the financial thriller "Dirty Money", and the comedy "Keys crossed".
The inauguration of this particular edition will take place on 2 of November, with a live broadcast of the event that will have the authorities involved and specialists on the subject. The feature films of Han Cine can be seen under the modality of "video on demand" (VOD), via CineAr Play web and its applications, until Sunday 22 of November, free and free (only for spectators in Argentine territory).
