The Theater Complex of Buenos Aires (CTBA) will present the work “Life is a dream” within the framework of the International Season, the Calderón classic directed by Declan Donnellan.

This work will be presented from 20 hours on Saturdays 25 and Sunday 26, Wednesday 29 and thursday 30 of November and the weekend corresponding to the first and 2 from December, at the Teatro Regio on Córdoba Avenue 6056.

Pedro Calderón de la Barca wrote this classic that is now directed by the British Donellan, which features the cast of the National Classical Theater Company of Spain.

Within this context, They are part of the Ernesto Arias Company, Prince Ezeanyim, Rebeca Matellan, Manuel Moya, Alfredo Noval, Goizalde Núñez, Antonio Prieto, Ángel Ruiz and Irene Serrano.

The work tells the story of a prince who is chained on a mountain.. There, a young woman disguised as a man will seek her revenge. “Life is a dream” suggests reflecting on what is truly real and what is a dream.

Without a doubt one of the prodigies of scenic literature of all time for its ability to harmonize poetic beauty., dramatic conflict and philosophical depth, Life is a dream confronts us with the dilemma of destiny and our ability to find spaces of freedom in our lives..

Donnellan ‒who visited the San Martín in 1994 with Cheek by Jowl to offer an irreverent and original version of Shakespeare's “Measure for Measure”, and in 2007 with “Twelfth Night”, from the same author, but directing a Russian cast‒, says about “Life is a dream”: “Calderón suggests that our main terror is not death, but the existence, something completely different. It also makes us wonder why we do things., if not to show that we are here”.
