A few days ago the National Museum of Fine Arts inaugurated an exhibition dedicated to the painter, architect and photographer Augusto Ferrari.

With the curatorship of Cecilia Rabossi and Andrés Duprat, "Photographs by Augusto Ferrari in the Fine Arts Collection" the exhibition brings together a selection of works created by the Italian-born artist and father of León Ferrari.

This is a first individual exhibition., with a total of 150 photographs that can be seen in the room 42 of the traditional Buenos Aires venue located on Avenida del Libertador. You can also see some paintings and drawings by this Italian-Argentine artist.

about these creations, to a large extent they form part of the Museum's heritage and also represent a preview of what will be "León Ferrari. Recurrences ", the exhibition that will open the 16 May at the Temporary Exhibition Pavilion.

During his opening speech, the director of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Andrés Duprat, expressed his joy at receiving the sample and also explained that "more than 15 years, His children Susana and León donated to us the collection of photographs that you can see today in the room”.

These works "are images with the compositions that he made with models to transfer to his paintings".

Finally, The director maintained that together with Cecilia Rabossi they were interested in "gathering the production of father and son, since the exhibitions will coexist in the Museum for a few weeks”.

It is worth noting that the exhibition could be carried out thanks to the collaboration of the Fundación Augusto y León Ferrari Arte y Acervo (FALFAA).

Within that context, Juliet Zamorano Ferrari, President of the Foundation and great-granddaughter of Augusto, thanked "all the people who knew it was important to take care of this heritage, because these photos are over a hundred years old”.

For his part, he added that "all this began when León decided to dedicate himself to his father's work. These pieces were in boxes, poorly guarded routes, there were badly rolled drawings. Seeing this hanging in the Fine Arts is a peace of mind”.

Susana, Leon's sister and, with him, donor of the exhibited photographs, he stated: “My father never knew that he was a great photographer; used photography as a tool for his paintings. It is a great action to rescue the photos that he had not recognized as such”.

invited to say a few words, the prominent artist Luis Felipe “Yuyo” Noah commented: "Thanks to Leon, I was the first to have written texts about his father. Augusto Ferrari was an advance, and it is curious the fact that he was a painter and architect of churches. I am happy about this tribute that they pay to Augusto”.
