Exhibit unpublished photos of Diane Arbus in the Malba
The Malba (PAINTING) will present one hundred works of the great American photographer Diane Arbus. The peculiarity of the sample is focusing on the first pictures professionally taken by her.
Organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), The exhibition presents for the first time in Argentina a set of 100 photos of Diane Arbus (New York, 1923-1971), one of the most influential artists in 20th century photography. This is the Met's first collaboration with an Argentine institution.
The exhibition focuses on the first seven years in which Arbus worked with his camera on the streets of New York City (1956-1962), period in which the artist developed the central themes of her career and her style, recognized around the world. Most of the photos are from the Met's Diane Arbus Archive and are unpublished.
