Coinciding with Women's Month, a total of 340 Artists will be exhibited in the rooms of the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires.

These works make up the heritage of the traditional Buenos Aires complex and will be part of an exhibition that aims to think about the positioning of women and the various gender identities in the field of visual arts and in today's cultural institutions..

Within that context, the museum will share details of its history, of the collection and of the program of exhibitions to be able to analyze the statistics that put "in evidence the historical inequality of the participation of women in art as a consequence of centuries of patriarchy that still mark society", as explained from the entity.

It should be noted that from the current management, started in 2013, the Modern Museum “has consistently convened female artists to carry out large retrospectives and individual projects, both artistic and educational and social”, pointed out in reference to samples such as Delia Cancela, Liliana Maresca, Ana Gallardo and Gachi Hasper, among other.

The work that begins the theme proposed for this month's virtual content in the museum is a piece by María Martorell from Salta (1909-2010), since hers is the first painting of a woman to enter the collection, in the year 1960.

Along the 2021, the museum will present the work of various female artists in its rooms, where the Elda Cerrato retrospective stands out “The wonderful day of the peoples”, inaugurated days ago.

The works of Adriana Bustos will also be seen, Claudia del Río and Mónica Millán, in the building on Avenida San Juan 350, in San Telmo.

The public collection of the Modern Museum has 7.637 total works, of which 1.334 they are works of women, where the works of Diana Dowek stand out, Karina El Azem, LaVogue, Liliana Maresca, Elisabeth Sánchez and Judi Werthein.

further, many artists have donated their own work, as Mercedes Azpilicueta, Perla Benveniste, Fabiana Imola, Ides Kihlen and Silvana Lacarra, besides Elba Bairon, Flavia Da Rin and Ana Gallardo.
