One of the main activities that the classic Corrientes street has is the sale of books and, from this sunday, that image will be seen again on the sidewalks gradually and during pedestrian hours.

The measure was taken by the Buenos Aires Government Headquarters and, respecting strict sanitary protocols, the bookstores will be able to offer their merchandise in the pedestrian hours of the classic artery (Friday from 17, Saturdays from 12 a 22 y domingos y feriados de 12 a 20).

As reported through a statement, the Ministry of Culture of the City together with the Ministry of Public Space of the City in a joint action with the Friends of Corrientes Street Association carried out the measure within the framework of "Cultural Corrientes", that allows the bookstores on Corrientes Street to offer their books on the sidewalk.

This determination includes the premises that are located on Corrientes street from Callao to Libertad. “We adapt the public space in the progressive opening of the City. On Corrientes Avenue, the classic bookstores began to offer their books on the sidewalk so that the neighbors can choose and buy outdoors ", stated the Minister of Public Space and Urban Hygiene, Clara Muzzio.

In the same line, the City's culture minister, Enrique Avogadro, emphasized that “public space is fundamental at this stage. Because, we will continue to promote it culturally. It's everyone's place, where we meet as equals and as protagonists of culture ".

It is worth remembering that from 19 October, the system of loan and return of books and the online association of the Network of Public Libraries of the City are underway under a strict prevention protocol against Covid-19.

In a first stage, the following nine libraries will open without public permanence and in a staggered manner: Leopoldo Lugones, Antonio Devoto, House of Reading, Guido and Spano, Miguel Cane, Joaquin V Gonzalez, Ricardo Guiraldes, Benito lynch, and Station Park.

Interested persons must associate online and may consult a list of 100 recommended titles by library and the complete catalog of books through the web. The loans will be under the modality of prior appointment with an agreed shift.
