An exhibition 300 more photos 60 Argentine artists, among them, Grete Stern, Marcos López, Alberto Greek, Jaime Davidovich, Guadalupe Miles and Graciela Sacco, will open the 16 September at the J Museum. Paul Getty from Los Angeles and is one of the focal points of the ambitious Pacific Standard Time LA/LA event, that for three months will honor Latin American art in the Californian city.

“Photography in Argentina, 1850-2010: Contradiction and Continuity” This great exhibition curated by the Spanish Idurre Alonso together with Judith Keller is titled, where they review more than 150 years of the local photographic medium, and that after its premiere in Los Angeles - where it will remain until 28 from January- will arrive at the Proa Foundation in the La Boca neighborhood.

“It is one of the most ambitious presentations of Argentine photography ever carried out by an American museum”, said Timothy Potts., director of the J Museum. Paul Getty, institution that recently acquired some of the images that will be exhibited, a set that is completed with loans from Argentine photographers and collectors and several important institutions around the world.

“Photography in Argentina” is deployed through four thematic axes selected by the curators that allude to “Civilization and barbarism”, “National myths”, “Aesthetic and political gestures” Y “From the new democracy to the present”, where references to the figure of Evita stand out, The Gaucho, the dichotomy between Buenos Aires and the provinces and immigrants.
