The Buenos Aires Museums celebrate their day with different proposals
On Sunday 6 October, The museums of the City of Buenos Aires will open their doors with free admission within the framework of the Museum Day of the City Government.
This celebration, which commemorates the inauguration of the first municipal museum in 1921, is commemorated from 1974. Among the spaces that will be part of the event are the Larreta Museum, the Museum of Popular Art, the Carlos Gardel House Museum, the Pablo Ducrós Hicken Film Museum and several more, that will be open 11 a 20 hours.
Throughout the month of October, Buenos Aires museums will also present new exhibitions. The Luis Perlotti Sculpture Museum inaugurates “The Emancipation of Forms” by Leo Vinci, the 3 October. In this sample, the sculptor invites us to reflect on current issues such as culture, identity and uncertainty, with a critical focus on contemporary society.
Meanwhile, The City Museum will open 23 October an exhibition about the City Park, with the aim of exploring its history and the role it has played in the urban planning of Buenos Aires. Finally, the José Hernández Popular Art Museum will present “Treasures of the Gran Chaco” on 24 October, an exhibition that puts the ancestral productions of the original peoples of Chaco in dialogue with current forms of production.
In addition to the new samples, previously inaugurated exhibitions continue, like the one dedicated to Mariquita Sánchez de Thompson in the Saavedra Museum, and “Troilo, the other Gardel del Abasto” in the Carlos Gardel House.
