Japan sounds arrive at the Cultural San Martin

Cultural San Martin and the House of Nikyokan Japanese performing arts carry forward a new edition of "Sounds of Japan", the music and dance show featuring special guest dancer and performer of taiko Chieko Kojima.

The show will explore repertoire of each of the parties, as unique collaborations where the viewer can experience traditional music and contemporary, through the characteristic sounds of Japan.

Chieko is a Japanese artist who first encountered with traditional Japanese dance when she moved to Sado Island to join the group in Sado no Kuni Ondekoza 1976. Then, in 1981, it became one of the founders of the group Kodo. At present, and a member of the group distinguished, Chieko performs solo work, where search encounters and collaborations with artists and groups, both in Japan and in the rest of the world.

Chieko is possessed of a dance technique that amazes the beholder. It appropriates the scene of a unique form filling brightness, mixing the subtle and graceful movements of traditional dances. His charisma and stage presence make all kinds can conquer the public.

Chieko is not only recognized as the principal dancer KODO, but because it is also the creator of the piece Hana-I Hachijo, which combines the art of the wadaiko with dance known worldwide.

During 2019 Chieko is Hana-world tour celebrating Hachijo Infinity Tour 20 years of his masterpiece.

Nikyokan Wadaiko is the group of Japanese drums House Japanese performing arts NIKYOKAN. Its members have trained in various traditional disciplines that come together on stage to generate an innovative proposal about the art of the wadaiko.

The repertoire of the group consists of own compositions and traditional pieces of Japanese folklore. In turn, the use of varied styles and traditional instruments of Japan stands, besides the taiko, such as shinobue (Bamboo flute), el kotsutzumi (small drum), chappa (metal plates) and dance among other things.
