“Música de Cuerda” is Diego Ontivero's first solo exhibition at Galería Mar Dulce. It brings together a series of twelve new paintings made in acrylic on canvas and an oil on canvas.
As expressed by Roque Larraquy in his text on the exhibition, “It is difficult to look at an image of Ontivero at once, at a glance. It is almost impossible to see her from the side on an indolent gallery tour without demanding to be seen again., out of like or dislike, by the sole effect of an unstable darning between the background and the figure that retains the gaze ".
Larraquy adds: “Each image is very neatly a silhouette cut out against a uniform colored background.. In many cases it is both an object with volume and weight that floats in empty space and leaves the projection of a shadow as a mark of its presence., but the shadow does not match the shape of the light obstructed by the floating matter ".
Finally, and through the “cut-out of the cut-out silhouette, parts of a scene that are necessarily spying are seen.. The scene with nothing to hide is forced into mystery by the simple act of unintentionally joining through a window.. The chosen moment does not seem crucial, quite the contrary".
