Mendoza Celebrates National Book Day with a reading campaign

Under the National Book Day held on Saturday, Public Library General San Martin, will celebrate with a campaign to encourage reading.

It will last until 21 of June, where an action will be developed to strengthen the bonds of Mendoza with the most important library in the province. That is why, as part of World Book Day, the institution will award a book to every person who signs up as new partner. On the other hand, for those who are already associated special loans will be made.

The 15 June 1908, the National Council of Women presented the awards and a literary contest that was organized within the framework of what was then the Book Festival.

Since then the name has changed, but nevertheless, the essence has the same, that of honoring and distinguishing that complex object known as a book. Finally, in 1924, Government decree of the National Book Festival officially announced and already the 11 June 1941, through a ministerial resolution, it was decided to rename the date by National Book Day, as it is currently known.

Public Library General San Martin is the largest in the province of Mendoza and one of the most important Argentine territory. Has more than 125.000 books, files and reading materials, they do respond to the wide range of needs that can sue Mendoza.

Its facilities offer various spaces for all audiences, rooms of silence and speech, classroom blackboard, computer room and a large hemeroteca, which makes it a major player in the process of lifelong learning of citizens. Added to this, are the amenities that comprise the building, wi-fi, air conditioner, screening rooms.
