“Nomadland” continues to reap recognitions
As it happened a week ago with the Golden Globes, “Nomadland” was consecrated last night as the best film at the Critics Choice Awards, the awards given by the association that brings together more than 400 critics of the United States and Canada, thus becoming a firm candidate to keep the precious Oscar.
In a hybrid ceremony, with central stage in Los Angeles and the winners connected remotely from different points, “Nomadland” he also won the title for best director, in the hands of Chloé Zhao; for the best adapted script and the best photography.
Meanwhile, the late Chadwick Boseman won another posthumous award for best actor for his work in “The mother of blues”, but he could not repeat in the cast item, where he was also nominated but lost to Daniel Kaluuya for his work in “Judas and the black messiah”.
Among women, the award for best leading actress went to Carey Mulligan, for his role in “Beautiful revenge”; while María Bakalova obtained the same among the cast interpreters for her work in the sequel to “Borat”.
This year's acting revelation was Alan Kim, by “Threatening”, film that was consecrated among foreigners; while “The judgment of the 7 from Chicago” he got the recognition for the best cast.
“Palm Springs” was voted best comedy and animated film “Soul” won the statuette for the best soundtrack.
Between series and movies for television, “The Crown” was the great star of the night by consecrating herself as the best, as well as his leading acting duo Josh O'Connor and Emma Corrin; and his supporting actress Gillian Anderson. Meanwhile, Michael Kenneth Williams was voted Best Supporting Actor for “Lovecraft Country”.
Between the comedy series, “Ted Lasso” was consecrated as the best, while he distributed prizes with “Schitt´s Creek” in the acting fields.
In this sense, while the first one meant awards to its protagonist Jason Sudaikis and the supporting actress Hannah Waddingham; the second earned statuettes to the leader of the cast Catherine O'Hara and Daniel Levy.
“Lady's gambit” won the award for the best limited series, just like its protagonist did, la argentina Anya Taylor-Joy, for its central role. Between the men, that same title went to John Boyega, by “Small Axe”.
Finally, “Hamilton” it was the best TV movie; “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, the best talk show; “Jerry Seinfield: 23 Hours to Kill”, the best special comedy; Y “Better Caul Saul: Ethics Training with Kim Wexler”, the best short series. (TELAM)
