New edition of the International African Film Festival of Argentina
With face-to-face activities in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and in Córdoba, between 26 October and 6 A new edition of the International African Film Festival of Argentina will take place in November.
The proposal, which will be done freely, It will also have activities and projections that can be enjoyed online, under the organization of Observatorio Sur.
Regarding face-to-face activities, there will be several venues in CABA, located in the National Library, National House of the Bicentennial, French alliance, Kirchner Cultural Center and UMSA. This edition will have more than 50 productions, between short and feature films, from 25 countries. The films come from Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Burundi, Cape Verde, Congo, Egypt, Spain, U.S, Ethiopia, France, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Jamaica, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Portugal, UK, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa and Uganda.
On the other hand, once the festival is over, The complete program will be available from the 8 al 22 November through the site Live Culture.
Under the curatorship of Jorgelina Barrera, Violeta Burkart Noe and Sergio Napoli, the festival will highlight Senegal as a guest country.
Within that context, the Ministry of Culture and Communication of Senegal together with the Cinematheque of that country will participate in the Festival with a special selection of films by Ousmane Sembène, known as “the father of cinema” from Sub-Saharan Africa. In this special section, classics such as: “Borom Sarret” (1963), “The Black of…” (1966), "The mandate" (1968) y “Solution” (1975).
Special guest from Senegal, The films will be presented by Professor Magueye Kasse of the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar and President of the Association Sembène Ousmane.
In network with other Festivals, IFACA will have a FiSahara Window (Sahara International Film Festival) with a selection of films with a Saharawi theme that reflect the serious situation of the refugee camps in Algeria. The Polisario Front Representative in Argentina will present the films and participate in the debate.
