The Mar Dulce Gallery will present via Instagram the "Manual of Argentine history II", which will bring together a series of oil paintings belonging to the artist Javier Velasco.

The appointment will be this Friday 5 November from 19 hours through the official account of the venue located on Uriarte 1490, in @galeriamardulce.

It should be noted that this exhibition is the continuity of the one inaugurated in March of this year, which featured creations that provided a memory of the school and highlighted the pantheon of national heroes.

Within that context, Velasco presented his paintings with a style between the game of soldiers and black humor: quirky explosions, heads that flew and children of blood that alternated with the historical rigor of the color of the uniforms and the official iconography.

This second sample deals with much of the history that passes through the classrooms as a quick whisper since there is nothing that can make us proud of its deeds., a dark and sinister story that shows an Argentina divided by violence and dissent: "The murder of Chacho Peñaloza" is a good example.

Ángel Vicente Peñaloza was not just an army general, was a leader in his sixties who presented his surrender to officers of the line army and who was brutally murdered with a spear at the very moment of his surrender.

Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, as War Director, not only celebrated the measure, Rather, it celebrated the beheading of Chacho and the exhibition of the dispossession in a square in the Riojan town of Olta. "The execution of Dorrego", another of the exhibited works, teaches us about the excesses of General Lavalle, who, after a coup d'état, executed "by order" and without trial the legitimate governor of Buenos Aires with the intention of "cutting off the head of the hydra" and ending the federal Buenos Aires. These history classes are followed by the paintings of "The Murder of Quiroga", "The escape with the corpse of Lavalle through the Quebrada de Humahuaca" and "The Murder of Urquiza" and others such as "May 25", Mechados with those that did teach us sidelong as small stumbles on the path of a glorious ascent (before falling into civil war), "The Huaqui disaster", "The surprise of Cancha Rayada" and "Vilcapugio".

Due, the sample carries with it something hypnotic. The charge of colors in their dance of celestial and red, comic book exaggerated violence that faces real life exaggerated violence in a war conflict, knowing that these events happened and that at the same time we have them covered by misunderstanding, I forget, or by curricular embarrassment not knowing very well what to do with them. But here they are, they reappear in Velasco's paintings as Side B of the school and thanks to him they are revisited.
