After just over six years in charge, Oche Califa announced his departure from the institutional and cultural direction of the Fundación El Libro and the International Book Fair of Buenos Aires.

Long and distinguished career also as a journalist and editor, Califa moves away from his responsibilities at the head of the entity when deciding to retire.

Califa's link with the Foundation was born twenty years ago and for six years and four months he has held the aforementioned positions. It should also be noted that he is a writer with a vast personal work, especially, in children's and youth literature.

"They were very intense years - emphasizes Oche Califa- in which the actions of the FEL in favor of the promotion of reading and books were multiplied. I realize that in a personal balance, which includes some reflections on trade fairs and the book industry. I think it goes without saying that although I leave this responsibility, I do not abandon my belonging or my affective ties with the world of the book ".

As mentioned, during the management of Oche Califa, the FEL doubled the organization of fairs (went from three to six), increased public promotional campaigns and own cultural programs. They also grew significantly, with visible results, cultural and professional negotiations with national and international organizations.

“The capacity and innovative spirit of Oche Califa are known in the world of books. It is easy to verify that the balance of his management as Institutional and Cultural Director is a Foundation that has multiplied its activity and is closer to the different forums of the sector. To the tireless worker of the book, that fully reaches the times when it is possible to pause, our gratitude and best wishes on the road that begins to travel from now on.”, Ariel Granica's words, President of the El Libro Foundation.

With this output, the FEL is engaged in the search for his replacement, while continuing to act to sustain the central role it has in the book industry through its fairs and campaigns. Especially, with the Buenos Aires International Book Fair, frustrated for the second year in a row, like other public actions, for the pandemic.
