After an atypical edition of the Las Alturas International Film Festival, its authorities carried out a balance in which the work stood out in the face of an adverse situation worldwide.

Regarding this new modality to which the Festival was adapted, its artistic co-director Daniel Desaloms commented: "We have experienced an unpublished edition, with great convocation of the public from all the Andean countries "and added: "This edition is the result of 6 years of work, maintaining the main asset of our festival: promote and disseminate Andean cinema and its creators and creators ".

The public was able to see the official competitions on the Festival website, that's how, during the contest 31.611 spectators from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela could enjoy the best Andean cinema at home.

For his part, the artistic co-director Marcelo Pont highlighted: "We had a wonderful festival, We have enjoyed and we were also able to reflect and analyze various topics with the three film meetings that we carried out with great and prestigious workers of the film industry, as well also, the academic activities that are the added value to continue training filmmakers in the industry ". At the same time, he highlighted "the important presence of the festival through drive-in projections with five successful performances in San Salvador de Jujuy".

During the Festival, viewers could enjoy 24 international feature films and 10 NOA region short films online and free. further, they were able to choose their favorite titles by awarding the Audience Award in each of the competitions. This is how “Fuertes” by Oscar Sánchez and Franco Traverso, "Sowers of life" by the Sarmiento brothers and "The blossoming of a bombisto" by Nicolas Stefanazzi were the films chosen by the public.

Regarding the choice of the jury, The films that took the laurels and the top prize in each competition were: "The sleepwalkers" by Paula Hernández (International Fiction Feature Film Competition), "The blossoming of a bombisto" (NOA Shorts Competition), “Juan” by Adrián Geyer and “Sacachún” by Gabriel Páez being the first time that the jury decides to choose two documentaries to share the prize in the International Documentary Feature Film Competition.

As in all editions, during the Festival they offered 6 academic activities taught by renowned film personalities, which aroused interest and brought together students from all over the region who took advantage of this free instance of online training.

Regarding special activities, Three meetings were held to discuss various topics of interest to the audiovisual sector. Daniel Desaloms moderated a luxury table: "The post pandemic cinema", where important Andean filmmakers talked about the present and future of audiovisual activity in the region, participated in this table: Miguel Ferrari, Vanessa Ragone, Jhonny Hendrix, Antonella Estévez and Mariana Rondón Also, Desaloms had an intimate encounter with the musician Federico Jusid, composer of original soundtracks for films and series recognized worldwide for his excellent work.

Meanwhile, journalist Catalina Dlugi moderated the meeting "Cinema and women" where actresses and directors presented their experiences and discussed the problems that gender faces in the audiovisual industry, with the participation of Eva Bianco, Liliana Juarez, Lorena Muñoz and Ana Katz.

In this edition, the Festival's social networks were the meeting point for the directors and directors with the moviegoers. Every day the directors in competition were interviewed to talk about their work and tell about the experience of their filming. The Festival is presented as a place of union and convergence, and although this year this meeting could not take place in movie theaters, had its place on social media.

More of 200 students signed up to take the trainings with space, while 16 a thousand people followed all academic activities online, Festival specials and interviews on Facebook and Youtube.

Within the framework of the Festival, the first part of the 2nd “Doculab de las Alturas” was also developed, an intensive online clinic for the development of a documentary project, where the documentary maker Ciro Novelli provided the theoretical / practical tools to strengthen the projects that were selected: 10 from NOA, 1 Bolivian project selected by Bolivia Lab and 1 Tierra del Fuego project selected by the Arica Nativa Native Film Festival of Chile.

In this edition the Festival had only one face-to-face activity and it was the drive-in, five drive-in movie performances were held in San Salvador de Jujuy. In this way, and adhering to a strict safety and hygiene protocol, Jujuy people were able to enjoy this alternative that is presented as a safe cultural activity to be carried out in the current context. Of the functions, a total of 1554 spectators and, although the tickets were free, donations of cleaning supplies were received that totaled a total of 608 liters between bleach and alcohol, plus cleaning supplies and food. All proceeds were donated to three local institutions: Susques Neighborhood Center, Hogar San Antonio y al grupoJóvenes solidarios por su barrioquienes lo distribuirán en los comedores de los barrios Malvinas, Moreno and Santa Rita.

The drive-in theater had a varied program where regional productions were prioritized. Two pre-premieres of telefilms were carried out in Jujuy with the support of the Government of Jujuy and INCAA through the "Provincial Contest for the Production of Fiction and Documentary Telefilms 2018". On the one hand, the telefilm entitled “Looking for Yavi” by director Patricio Artero, documentary that highlights the life of the Marquis of Yavi; and on the other hand, el telefilm de ficciónSiervo Ajenode Blas Moreau, a story within the days leading up to the Combate de Quera.
