Pablo Fabregas, one of the most recognized comedians in the country will be presenting his show "Inestable" within the framework of the reopening of Paseo La Plaza, after his experience in drive-ins.

In dialogue with The sidewalk the artist anticipates what his shows will be in the Pablo Neruda Hall of the traditional Buenos Aires venue (this Thursday 17 -from 21.30- and Sunday 20 December - at 20-) and also leaves his vision about how to live with humor in a year of pandemic.

How did you live all this quarantine time?

There really is no way to get through quarantine, I imagine that we will all be in something similar. There were various moods, but I don't have many complaints. In some moments, anger over the situation in general won me over, but most of the time I was working, as a family and moving forward. I think if I complain it would be too much.

A short drive-in tour brought him back to live shows after the long period of isolation.. For Fábregas this was “a good experience, beyond that the format does not finish consolidating ".

"It was a rare experience, but then you value the lights and the speakers, beyond that it is recommended not to use them. Someone who comes out and shouts something and is appreciated as if they were laughter or applause. The truth is that they were positive experiences, a little because they worked well and another little because of the weirdness of the matter. One more anecdote ", he added.

But nevertheless, recently introduced health protocols made theaters reopen, allowing the return to the stage, achieving the possibility of presenting "Unstable" in a more normal way.

What does the reunion with the public generate? Is there a special nervousness?

I'm not particularly nervous about what that meeting will be like or whether or not people will go.. I want it to work. Maybe a separate audience does give me the idea that the room will be very cold. But as I said before with the cars, one ends up valuing what they give you and you end up making a balance of what is good or what is bad, right there and with that many people.

Do you feel that after so long isolated you will have a different audience? Harder to make laugh?

I do not think it is. In fact, If you make the decision to go to the theater, it is because you are predisposed to have a good time. I hope for the best

What do you think are the main topics to make humor in a quarantine context?

It seems to me that the context, Unless you have something very forceful prepared ... the truth is that to be doing monologues for an hour about the context would seem strange to me, I would not do it.

Yes there is a lot to laugh about the subject and how weird, but I don't think the context modifies the entire show. It does not seem so much to me. I think things are still happening to us affected by the pandemic - for sure- but with the silver, human relations ... everything can have its quota of quarantine. But it's not the only thing.

The months of quarantine created a concern in people who were transformed into courses, online workshops or the possibility of discovering some hidden talent. In the case of Pablo Fábregas, being at home meant the possibility of “finishing by premiering a show that had more than a year since it began to be planned. Let's say I found the time to do things ".

On the other hand, What surprised the artist the most was "the amount of things I was able to do locked up and how easy it was for me not to leave my house". That at some point “was great, but in another it was a little scary ".

From the title of the show, do you point to the instability of the couple? Is it the ideal subject to treat in quarantine?

Actually when I started with the texts for this show it was called "Monologues and songs for unstable couples", but now everything changed. Very little was left of that and now there is a lot of new material. The couple is one more thing, it is always important because it is a nice topic, but there is a lot of other things and I speak of instability as human beings locked up and with fear.

Among the novelties of the show, "Unstable" will feature a stable band composed by Lucien Gilabert on vocals, Michelangelo Cino (Ranatronic) in bass and voice, Daniel Ramos on drums and Fábregas himself on guitar (he had already shown his talents in "Mucho", the work he shared with Malena Guinzburg, Fernando Sanjiao and Diego Scott).

What does music bring to your show, the use of a live band?

I always liked the idea of the show over the essence of what is stand-up or stand-up comedies. I like adding things and in this case live music, the songs themselves -and I add everything we do on video-. All this makes what I like grow a little, what is monologue, but it seems to me that with these things we give more meaning to the show and I think that sensually we offer you other things for you to enjoy and that is not just pay attention to a letter or a punchline.

What is your opinion about the shows via streaming? Do you think that when everything happens they can stay as a complement?

I think it is a great tool, that I used a lot during the quarantine and the truth is that I loved and love her. Back, I like to think that they are formats like self-theater. I like to think that they are formats that are here to stay and thus open the range of possibilities for a man or a woman to enjoy a show. It depends a lot on technology and I think that together we are going to have to take advantage of it to its fullest expression. Has a lot to offer, but we are just starting.

What projects are left for the remainder of the year and next?

The central project in terms of comedy and theater is set in this show, "Unstable". That lasts all next year. You have to see what the 2021, but we are prepared and I think things are also coming together with Rada and the Colibriquis, some other festival joining three or four things, open air ... and in the winter we will see. But if the theaters stay open I want continuity in a traditional theater.

Finally, as a comedian and actor, how do you define this 2020?

The 2020 served to value the 2019 And so that we learn that when things seem ugly, you can always go a little lower. Personally, it was super productive, because it was my way of coping, but it was crap. In time we will find humor more than pain, but to think that he destroyed so many people this year, I can't think anymore that it was shit.
