This Sunday 3 June the Proa Foundation will premiere the exhibition "Artoons. Metadrama”, with the works created by the Mexican artist Pablo Helguera.

For the first time in our country, the artist will present a selection of his acid caricatures that "satirize the uses and customs of the artistic field, highlighting its contradictions, archetypes and protocols”.

Helguera is the owner of a work that uses various disciplines, how to be the installation, the sculpture, the photograph, the drawing, social interaction practices and performance.

The professional experience of the artist, For example, in the Education departments of important museums such as MoMA or the Guggenheim in New York -the city where he lives and works-, it enabled him to develop a sensitive and assertive look around the habits of the artistic field that always crystallized in drawings that he shared with friends and family.

However, it was only in the 2008, when you started with the series of artoons, who first presented his cartoons in the public sphere by sharing them on his social networks. The rapid viralization that artoons had and still has highlights the undeniable identification they generate in cultural workers around the world.

Organized by the Proa Foundation itself and PROA21, This presentation also seeks to account for his work as an educator, that develops in parallel - or rather intertwined- with his work as an artist.
