As of this Wednesday the Ministry of Culture of the Nation will carry out the program "Reactivate Scenes", a new financial support tool for theater and music, areas affected by the pandemic.

Promoted by the Secretary of Cultural Management, The call will provide support to live music spaces and independent theater venues throughout the country, whose activities were interrupted for almost the entire 2020.

At present, both the theater and music sectors, begin to resume their activities under care protocols that establish a reduced capacity. For this reason, the Ministry of Culture will allocate 200 million pesos to cover the 30% of the capacity of 1000 independent scenic spaces throughout the national territory. The initiative will be implemented through the National Theater Institute (INT) and the National Institute of Music (INAMU).

The call is intended for independent theater halls and live music spaces with a total capacity of less than 300 locations, that are part of the National Registry of the INT and live music establishments that are registered in the Registry of Musical Activity of the INAMU.

They will be selected until 800 registered independent theater establishments and up to 200 live music rooms, that commit to perform a minimum of 24 concerts or functions between 31 March and 4 July 2021. The spaces that benefit will access an economic contribution of 250 pesos for each empty seat, with a cap of up to 30% of its capacity per concert / function.

Applicants may submit a single application for each registered establishment. Theatrical spaces will be able to enter the INT platform to know the regulations and complete the registration process. Regarding the music rooms, They will be able to access the bases and conditions and register through the INAMU website.

Applications for musical spaces will be evaluated by the INAMU Development Directorate and, as appropriate, the geographical location of the establishment, The coordinators of each cultural region of the country may participate. Meanwhile, independent theater halls will be evaluated by the INT Board of Directors.
