Red Hot Chili Peppers sells their song catalog
Like figures like Bob Dylan and Neil Young, among so many, Californian band Red Hot Chili Peppers sold their entire catalog of songs for a value of 140 millions of dollars.
The combo buyer, which includes classics like “Give It Away” Y “Under the Bridge”, among others, fue Hipgnosis Songs Fund, the same company that had struck a deal with Neil Young, according to American newspapers.
From this transaction, the group headed by Anthony Kiedis and Flea will only own the recordings.
The sale of the catalog is one of the ways that musicians found to profit from their work in the face of the sharp decline in the commercialization of physical formats and the scarce benefits that digital platforms pay.
Among the artists who opted for this type of transaction are also Shakira, Paul Simon y David Crosby. (TELAM)
