With performances every Tuesday starting at 20.45, The play “The Champion Says Goodbye” continues with its presentations at the Ítaca Theater Complex.

Written by Fernando Zabala and directed by Mariano Dossena, This one-man show stars Cristian Thorsen and describes a love triangle, a fiery passionate drama.

In “The champion says goodbye”, The story revolves around a confession that became inevitable, a melancholic relief. As Dossena detailed, the work is “an excessive dramaturgy, mix of Argentine grotesque with Greek tragedy, “with the mastery of humor to alleviate so much pain”. The director added: “A village story, that could be from any big city, where passion is curtailed by social precepts and repression of instincts.”.

Meanwhile, Zabala maintained that the story of this work was inspired by unusual news that came from Puerto Rico., where they watched over an embalmed boxer. Family members took photos with him, who had even been dressed as a boxer.

"Then, for those things of destiny, I came across “Fragment of a Love Speech” by Roland Barthes where the author talks about embalmed love in the different stages of falling in love.”. In this way, “This was how the crossing of both universes, as ineffable as they are antagonistic, emerged inside me. From there, the passionate metaphor as poetic and, but still, “its love triangulation as tragedy”.
