Although they come from two totally different currents, there are too many similarities for them to congeal in the same place. For this reason, having the opportunity to appreciate one of the greatest cinematic gems such as "The Empire Strikes Back" from the first Star Wars trilogy in a venue as expensive for national culture as the Teatro Colón has been perhaps one of the great attractions of this 2022.

Through four functions (the last one offered this Friday morning in a subtitled way), the Stable Orchestra of the Teatro Colón Association of Teachers made a trip to the memory and nostalgia of the public that filled the elegant room on Tucumán street.

But to revisit this classic of 1980, whose music belongs to the brilliant John Williams, nothing better than another brilliant conductor like the master Thiago Tiberio, who even had the luxury of directing the baton with a lightsaber and in the presence of some of the Stormtroopers who guarded the venue.

The slogan was simple: enjoy again this great film by George Lucas, but with the company of the Orchestra that interpreted completely and to the letter the entire soundtrack of the film, through two acts and a short interval.

This second part of the trilogy comes two years after the first presentation that Disney gave along with the Colón and that also toured the world reaping praise.

With a totally familiar public, the objective was more than fulfilled since many people were able to convey their love for a franchise that does not stop expanding and in turn, that same audience enjoyed live classical music.

To over 40 years of its premiere, “The Empire Strikes Back” is the film that reveals the great secrets of the galaxy and that once again pits the rebel forces led by Princess Leia against the bombastic army of Darth Vader, one of the most accomplished villains in the history of the Seventh Art.

for his work, Williams was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Amphitheater Hall of Fame in 2000 and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2004, the United States Medal of Arts (National Medal of Arts) in 2009 and the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

As for Master Tiberius, He is considered a true specialist when it comes to synchronizing live music with movies and his background includes adaptations of “Realmente amor” (Love Actually), "Paradise cinema", "The Hunger Games" (The hunger games), “Los Goonies” (The Goonies), "The diaryof Bridget Jones" (Bridget´s Jones diary) y “Grease”, among other.

This young talent also has works with the most outstanding orchestras from various countries in the world such as the United States, Japan, Turkey, Bulgaria, South Korea, China, Brazil, UK, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria and France.
