Auctioning a painting “missing” Frida Kahlo

“Girl with necklace”, one of the works never exhibited the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, It will be auctioned next Tuesday at Sotheby's in New York with a base value 1,5 millions of dollars.

The work could reach two million dollars, the website of Spanish newspaper ABC reported.

President of Latin American art house, Axel Stein, He explained that the painting was hung in a house in California during 60 years and that looks very cool.

“He was in a dark part of the residence, so the colors are vivid”, he explained.

Kahlo died in 1954, to the 47 years. One year after his death, his widowed, muralist Diego Rivera, He gave the work a woman who had helped the Mexican painter in his studio, said Stein.

Now, with some 90 years, this woman has offered the work to the auction house.

The work is among the first twenty paintings of Kahlo. In the frame, a girl 13 from 14 years facing the viewer looks. “There is a feeling of warmth and closeness”, Stein said.
