From Tuesday 8 September and for four meetings that will be repeated on the same day and time (from 19), a literary workshop on the Irish writer Samuel Beckett will be held at the French Alliance of Buenos Aires.

It is a proposal to be read in French through the Zoom platform and with bilingual comments to celebrate the work "En attendant Godot" (Esperando to Godot), which will be attended by Silvia Hopenhayn.

"Esperando a Godot", from the irish writer, It is a work of literature that is updated in each era, given its originality and beauty to refer to the human condition, especially in times of hardship and uncertainty.

Written in 1940, in the middle of World War II, the two protagonists, Vladimir and Tarragon, are true paradigms of existentialism and account for the passage through this world through the absurd, the everyday and the conversation.

They are waiting for Godot (some demarcated Dios / God from the name chosen by Beckett), and at that time, apparently still, existence shows itself naked, and sometimes comical. The work was first published in French (language chosen by the author to write it) in 1952, in Midnight Editions, and also his was the translation into English, that appeared three years later.

As for I find them, after the author's presentation, the time in which the work is registered, the influences, the context of Irish literature, his relationship with France, and the impact today, the writer Silvia Hopenhayn will read the work in French, with bilingual commentary.

In every encounter, There will be a debate on the topics that arise from the reading among all the participants, in Spanish or French, according to the possibilities of expression, since the workshop is offered in both languages.

This fee proposal requires an understanding of oral French and a previous reading of the work is not necessary.. For more inquiries and registration, You can visit the official site of the French Alliance or write to cultura@alianzafrancesa.org.ar.
