Drummer Rodolfo García, historic Argentine rock musician, died this morning, to the 75 years, after spending several days hospitalized in the Buenos Aires Hospital Tornú with an irreversible state of brain death after having suffered a cerebrovascular accident.

This was confirmed to Télam by sources close to the artist, who said that the death of the former Almendra and Coven, among other fundamental bands, occurred near the 1.30 from today.

The artist, of 75 years, was a key figure in the dawn of national rock in the 60 and founded the seminal Almendra together with Luis Alberto Spinetta, Edelmiro Molinari and Emilio del Guercio.

Then he was a drummer for Aquelarre and Tantor, collaborated with Litto Nebbia en Nebbia's Band, He was the percussionist for Peteco Carabajal and Jacinto Piedra in Santiagueños for the album "Transmission Huaucke", He played with Víctor Heredia, with Pedro and Pablo and, closer in time, again with Spinetta in his last solo stage.

He also formed his own band, La Barraca, in 1989 Y, closer in time, participated in PosPorteño, with bassist and singer Dhani Ferrón and Alejandro del Prado y de Juaguar, also with Ferrón as well as with Lito Epumer and Julián Gancberg.

Between that persistence as a sensitive instrumentalist, García also displayed a strong work in cultural management, task that earned him to be appointed National Director of Arts under the second presidency of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, in 2014.

García trained as an accordionist, instrument to which he publicly returned in 1997 when Spinetta convinced him to join him in Miami for his Unplugged on MTV sharing “La miel en tu ventana”.

“I want to introduce someone who is like a musical father and who will always guide me, because he is a straight person like few, who i love. Rodolfo García: Almond drummer ”, he said and defined it.

Years later, as can be read in "Martropía: conversations with Spinetta ", book by journalist Juan Carlos Diez, there are more notes from the "Skinny" about his friend and partner in the chapter titled "The Larkings" (name of the group of the then adolescent García).

“I didn't have records and I went to Rodolfo's house to listen to music. From the sidewalk I already knew if he was there because he always put the team strong. He played music or listened to him practice the accordion or, possibly, if i had, Battery. Rodolfo is extraordinary. I had an Oasis look, he dressed well from home. I believe that Núñez and Belgrano exist because he lived there, because the quía was the power plant that fed the neighborhood with the disco that it had. And on top of that he was already an impressive drummer ", it is noted there about what Luis Alberto thought about Rodolfo.

Stroke than the past 28 April affected the artist at his home in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Ortúzar, he wanted to be kept a secret by his family, but once the news broke publicly, many colleagues echoed the sad news through social media.

Until that moment, Garcia was active, vital and enterprising, something that was evident in the musical plane but also sharing “Mundo disperso” with Pedro Saborido and Daniel Míguez, a radio prank that started in AM 750 and that this year could be heard on National Radio on Sundays in 12 a 13.30.
