Three Argentine films at the Busan Festival, in South Korea

Three national productions will be part of the prestigious Busan Festival that will take place between this Wednesday 6 and the 15 October in person in South Korea.

The Argentine film "Piedra noche", by Iván Fund, will compete in the World Cinema section dedicated to films that mark the most recent trends in world cinema at the 26th. edition of the meeting.

The Korean festival also programmed "The Planet", by Amalia Ulman, in the Flash Forwrd section -first or second films by emerging filmmakers from non-Asian countries-, while in the Icons section you will see "Vortex", by the Argentine Gaspar Noé.

“Piedra noche” is a film with elements of the fantasy genre about the loss of a couple of their young son and it had its world premiere at the 8th edition of the Giornate degli Autori at the Venice Film Festival. . He recently participated in Horizontes Latinos at the San Sebastian Festival and in the fiction competition at the Biarritz Festival.

"The planet", by filmmaker Ulman currently based in New York, is a comedy where the protagonist abandons her life as a fashion student in London and returns to Gijón, where her mother is about to be evicted. There, both sell different objects through the internet and mortgaging themselves based on lies, an action that portends adverse but that mother and daughter ignore while their bond strengthens.

For his part "Vortex", of the Argentine Gaspar Noé established in France, had its world premiere at the last Cannes Film Festival and has just won the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera award at the 69th. edition of the San Sebastian Festival.

Starring mystical filmmaker Dario Argento and French actress Alex Lutz, "Vortex" portrays the last days of an elderly couple suffering from dementia.

The Busan Festival is one of the most important in Asia and it is also an exhibition where world cinema is presented for that region. (TELAM)
