A Biblical scene from Rembrandt to be auctioned in New York
A scene from the work "Abraham and the Angels" belonging to the painting that the artist Rembrandt van Rijn painted in 1946 will be auctioned in New York City and they hope to receive a fortune for it.
The auction will be in January through the traditional Sotheby's house, who hopes to get rid of the spectacular piece for a figure that may be around 20 Y 30 millions of dollars.
This painting will be part of Teachers Week, reported Sotheby’s. It is one of the few Old Testament works by the artist that remains in private hands.
Painted on 1646, the work was last sold at a public auction in the year 1848 by 64 pounds (some 82 Dollars), although now the auctioneers estimate that it will change hands for twenty or thirty million dollars.
The little work of 16 by 21 centimeters describes a pivotal moment in the biblical story of Abraham: when God reveals that his wife Sarah will give him a son, named Isaac.
It is worth noting that the Dutch master of the Golden Age, Rembrandt van Rijn, He conducted 136 biblical paintings, mostly belonging to prominent museum collections.

The sale will be the highlight of the New York Teachers Week series in January 2021, which will also include a portrait of Sandro Botticelli, estimated at more than 80 millions of dollars.
Last july, a Rembrandt self-portrait reached a new record by selling for 18,7 millions of dollars, in London.
