The 8 July, the London house Christie´s will auction in a figure that would be around ten million euros "Head of a bear", one of the last drawings by Leonardo da Vinci.

Still privately owned, This work is about the head of a bear created with a technique that consists of the use of a silver rod that is dragged along the surface creating the drawing on a pale pink base that Da Vinci (1452-1519) learned from his teacher, Andrea del Verrocchio.

“Then sell another da Vinci drawing, Horse and rider, in 2001, by 11 millions of dollars, which is still the world record for an artist drawing, Christie’s is proud to offer another work by possibly the best cartoonist in the world.. I have every reason to believe that we will achieve a new record in July for ‘Head of a Bear’, one of Leonardo's latest drawings expected to hit the market”, explicit Stijn Alsteens, of that auction house and reported in the newspaper El País de España.

This da Vinci drawing belonged to Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830), a British painter whose collection of Old Master drawings was considered one of the largest in the world and when he passed away, “Head of a bear” passed to your primary creditor, Samuel Woodburn, who sold it to Christie's in 1860 by 2,50 pounds.

Later, the work became the property of the British collector Norman Robert Colville and from its first public exhibition in 1937, It was also exhibited in museums in London, Milan, Abu Dhabi or Moscow.

“Head of a bear” will be on public display at Christie's at Rockefeller Center in New York beginning Saturday 8 May and then it will arrive at Christie's in Hong Kong on 20 al 25 of May. Your tour will continue through London, where you can see from 1 al 6 June before sale, scheduled for 8 of July.
