Various online activities to celebrate Reader's Day

This Monday 24 August is celebrated throughout the country on Reader's Day, in honor of the birth of the famous writer Jorge Luis Borges. In this context, the Culture area of ​​the City prepared a series of activities to enjoy online.

The activities will be carried out through the different digital platforms, always freely and for free and as part of the Culture at Home initiatives, that seek to promote the habit of reading and generate an approach to the figure of the Argentine writer and his work.

Among the proposals are book recommendations, reading tips, anecdotes that María Kodama relives about the legacy of Borges and his work and reflections of Beatriz Sarlo about the figure of the writer.

PERFORMANCE READING

Interpretations from texts and first-person stories that seek to resignify the relationship with literature, from a relaxed place. The residents of the City will be able to access three online proposals to experience literature from new perspectives:

> CHAT IN YOUR FACE: a meeting between two actors and actresses who relate conversations from a close past on WhatsApp, telling a story with a beginning and an end.

> POETIC PROSPECTS: performative prospectus readings, labels and recipes turned into poetry when narrating.

> AN OWN STORY: Daniela Ruíz and Julián López narrate their own texts in the first person.

Organized by the General Directorate for Book Promotion, Libraries and Culture, through the Public Libraries Network. The proposals are free to access, from Cultura en Casa and the DG's Youtube channel.

About the City's Public Libraries Network

The Network of Public Libraries of the City forms a platform of cultural spaces that guarantee access to books, to the reading and cultural development of the neighbors of Buenos Aires. The 31 Libraries that make up the Network represent meeting points between creators, neighbors and organizations in each neighborhood. Today Libraries are strengthened to promote new encounters with knowledge, the creation and entertainment of neighbors either at home or meeting them in public spaces.

BORGES BY MARÍA KODAMA

Maria Kodama, writer, translator, Letters teacher and who was Borges' partner, was invited by the Editorial Area of ​​the Impulso Cultural platform, to share reflections and memories about this enormous Argentine writer. Through an audiovisual capsule, Kodama manages to bring Borges and his link with literature closer. It refers to Borges the reader through a journey through the wide universe of titles and writers that accompanied him throughout his life. About the end, share an anecdote about the story "The circular ruins", dedicating the reading of a fragment.
