Los Chikos del Maíz will arrive in Argentina for the first time to demonstrate their great presence as one of the most important Spanish hip-hop bands. Within that context, The sidewalk spoke with El Nega, one of the members of the duo that will perform on 3 December at El Teatrito.

Within this framework, The musician provided details about the expectations of arriving in the country, the social and political situation, contact with local fans and how he sees the genre within the national scope.

How do you feel about the possibility of playing for the first time in Argentina??

With great desire. After two cancellations for reasons beyond the control of the group, We have the hope of acting for the first time and sowing the seed to return in the future..

Argentina, also, has always had a great hip-hop culture and we really want to share our music with the public there..

Considered as a group with constant concern on issues related to politics and strictly social issues., The Nega anticipated that they will arrive in a very complicated situation with skyrocketing inflation and the rise of the most 'Trumpist' extreme right, But it is a country that we have always wanted to know”.

Although he acknowledged that they will be there for a short time, “It is a first contact to return in the not too distant future”, assured.

Have you had contact with your Argentine followers before arriving? What have they been transmitted??

Fortunately, With social networks you can always have direct and immediate contact. We know that despite the situation and the concert being on a Sunday, There are many people wanting to come to the concert to share our music and spend time with us.. But the real contact will come at the show and we have high expectations. They have always spoken very well to us about the Argentine public.

Do you have any Argentine musical influence that you have discovered and that has caught your attention??

Personally, regarding rap, I've been listening to Trueno a lot lately., especially his songs closest to classic rap. And Wos is also very good. There is a new wave of very powerful Argentine rap, although many have a style closer to trap.

His lyrics often address social and political issues.. What message is most important to you to convey through your music??

What other future is possible?. What, in the face of the denial of expectations for youth, yes there is hope, but within another system. The current one is expired, It is unfair and only leads us to the abyss. The bad thing is, as Gramsci said, when the old world dies (how is happening) monsters appear. And there we have Milei, in the Spanish State to Abascal, Trump, Bolsonaro… Unfortunately there are more and more, but we hope it is temporary.

What can Argentine fans expect from your concert??

A comprehensive review of our musical career. An hour and a half concert where we try to address all the albums and present a dynamic show with different sounds and tempos.

Can you tell us anything about your musical projects or tours that you are planning after this visit??

We are preparing new music for next year and we will continue touring throughout Spain and we also have a small tour of Europe prepared.. The music doesn't stop.

We hope to see you all on Sunday 3. We know that the economic situation, social and political is complicated, so thank you very much for the effort of the followers in coming to see us.
