The National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) inaugurated the EcoSelect Municipal Cinema in the city of La Plata, the first room supplied with solar energy in Latin America. The site, located in 19 Y 51, will be part of the INCAA Space Network.

The vice president of INCAA was part of the inauguration, Juan Fernando Lima, the mayor of La Plata, Julio Garro and other authorities belonging to the Municipality and the Institute.

In this way, the INCAA Spaces Network exceeded the 70 venues across the country, and the cinema will contain at least one 70 percent of your free programming.

The Communal Head of Plaguense expressed: “It is a pride to be able to see the result of the joint work between the State and private companies in pursuit of a common goal that favors us all., as is the inauguration of this room ".

Meanwhile, Vice President Fernando Juan Lima pointed out that “this inauguration is part of the constitutional mandate of defense of the National Culture and its diversity, that we promote from INCAA in conjunction with the provinces and municipalities. The opening of the EcoSelect is part of one of the objectives of the Institute, to multiply the exhibition screens so that the plurality of our cinema can reach, in an accessible way, to all the inhabitants of the country ".

Regarding EcoSelect, which was conditioned with the contribution of INCAA, the DAC (Cinematographic Argentinean Directors) and the Municipality of La Plata, It will work thanks to solar panels installed on the roof of the Malvinas Islands Cultural Center and was carried out in order to promote sustainable technological development.

The venue is the only one in Latin America with these characteristics and one of the three that exist in the world, after one present in India and another in the United States, and has a screen of 5×4 and a sound system of 5.1.

The opening performance was held to a full house with a tribute to the cinema of La Plata, with the screening of the short films "Single", by Alberto Yaccelini (1970), "Marisa in the siesta", by Javier Demaría (La Plata's first winner of the national contest Short Stories-1996) and "The uncertain mist", by Bernabé Demozzi (2017).
