Inaugurated the fifth edition of the Performance Biennial
The City of Buenos Aires was illuminated with the opening of the fifth edition of the BP.23 Performance Biennial, an event that promises to be a unique experience until 16 of March.
Organized by the Babilonia Foundation for the Arts, Scientific and Cultural Organization, with support from the Cultural Promotion regime of the Ministry of Culture and Santander Foundation, This Biennial stands out for its focus on humanistic and cooperative values.
The opening evening at Nos en Vera was a feast for the senses, con catering gourmet, music by DJ and surprising performances by the waiters. A planned power outage added a touch of mystery, but Marta Minujín's voice resonated, promising a bright return. The electricity returned, revealing cakes with Minujín's face that they shared with the attendees, transforming the opening into an unforgettable party.
Graciela Casabé's direction sets the tone for this edition, presenting four projects selected by an outstanding jury. Ian Kornfeld challenges reality with “ANTIPLAN Ñews”, reconfiguring news into live audiovisual pieces 9 December at the National Museum of Fine Arts. Lindalinda, with “Rescue Equipment”, launches rescue kits from airspace 10 December on Corrientes Avenue, promoting unity in times of crisis.
Fabian Gandini, with “Unintentional Harm”, transforms urban space with accidents that defy perception in February of 2024. Guido Ignatti receives a special mention on 3 December in Proa 21 with “End Homosexuals”, a work that criticizes political campaigns of the past.
In the international arena, María José Arjona presents “That Which Occurs Outside of the Perceptible”, a resistance to the saturation of movement and image the 21 February in Nos en Vera and Malba.
The closing will be in charge of the iconic Marta Minujín with “Find your Opposite”, a historical reinterpretation that invites the public to connect with their opposite souls on 16 March on the Women's Bridge.
Guest programs, such as “Quipu de Encuentro con el Río de la Plata” by Cecilia Vicuña in Malba and “Tiempo Real” by Vivian Galbán at the Larivière Foundation, they further enrich the proposal of the Biennial.
