The Cinema Museum bids farewell 2024 with an exceptional program that combines film and theater in a tribute to culture and creativity.

from 16 hours, The Children's Film Club celebrates the holidays with a selection of short films that evoke the Christmas spirit. Among the gems of the program is “A Christmas Accident” (1912, EE.UU.), an emotional drama about how generosity unites a wealthy family and their neighbors at Christmas. From Russia, “Insect Christmas” (1913), de Wladyslaw Starewicz, captivates with an innovative stop motion technique, where Santa Claus shares the festivities with tiny insects. The selection also includes “Winter Carriage” (1958, France), a charming story of animals enjoying winter, and “The Great Toy Robbery” (1963, EE.UU.), a hilarious parody of the Wild West that promises fun for the whole family.

Later, to 18 hours political cinema takes center stage with the screening of “La Paz” (1968), made by the Cine Liberación Group under the direction of María Elena Massolo. The screening will be accompanied by a presentation by Carolina Cappa and a panel with the Getino-Massolo family (Wake, Marina, Alejandra and Santiago) and Fernando Martín Peña. from 16 hours the National Fund for the Arts closes the year with a tribute to Argentine theater through three short films that portray its wealth and legacy:

– “Sainete time” (1966, 12 minutes): Directed by Fuad Quintar, This documentary revives the sainete genre through archival material and recreations performed by actors from independent theaters.

– “The marriage of Laucha” (n/f, 15 minutes): Audiovisual adaptation of the work of Roberto J. Payro, directed by Teobaldo Marí, music by Roque de Pedro and performances by Juan Carlos Altavista and Violeta Antier.

– “Image of an actor” (1973, 20 minutes): Under the direction of Rodolfo Lozano, This short offers a profile of the prominent Argentine actor, combining fragments of his most iconic performances with his own interventions.
