After 15 years of uninterrupted activity, Bernal's Don Bosco Theater must close its doors, at the request of the school that bears the same name.

This enclosure, located in the heart of Bernal, one of the towns belonging to Quilmes, not only offers the residents distinguished theatrical proposals, but has also become a meeting point for courses, workshops and well-attended exhibitions, becoming a true emblem of the party.

With effort, teachers and actors Alejandro Pepe and Marisol Vecchi carried out the venture from the beginning and are still waiting for the continuity of the theater.

In dialogue with The sidewalk, Pepe said that already in 2020 the Don Bosco College had demonstrated about the end of the theater. But nevertheless, the beginning of the pandemic put a stop to those plans.

"We ask to continue one more year, at least to recover some of the much we had invested ", Pepe detailed. Unfortunately, "This year the confinement caught us again and we lost again".

Despite attempts, the school authorities indicated that this year there would be no going back, since the idea is "to do something else", according to the actor and teacher. "Both the council and the administrator were already here for future plans". Those plans mean a kiosk where the dressing room is located.

On the other hand, Pepe emphasizes that “what they tell us is somewhat ambiguous, but they want to do a cultural athenaeum ”and in this way, "Continue with courses and workshops but dictated by them and for the students of the school".

Beyond the bad news received for the area of ​​Quilmeño culture, it was the neighbors who showed their outrage at the measure taken, asking that the decision be reconsidered and that in this way, Don Bosco theater may continue.

“People reacted because now we start with the samples, that are already being ordered for next year ", Alejandro manifests. This action that already takes 15 years it generated an accustoming on the part of the public that projects activities and in this way it becomes an active part of the venue.

"When we warned that we would not continue, many neighbors got sick. We said we can't do anything, because we even proposed many things, but there was no case ", explains the playwright.

With logical regret, Pepe details that "we are saddened by everything that was invested and worked", indicating that the official activities of the theater will last until 19 from December.

"That day we would have to dismantle the room. In principle we will keep everything where we can and then we will see if we move to another side ", full.
