Registration opens for the traditional “Brief Stories” contest
The traditional contest "Brief Stories" carried out by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) opened its call and this time with a federal character.
For the first time in its history, this call will select 24 winning projects, with the particularity that it will be one per province.
The time to present the projects will be until 2 of January of 2023 and registration will be done online through the INCAA online platform.
This traditional contest, that complies 27 years of validity, seeks to stimulate the production and direction of short films by emerging filmmakers, so that they can capture new trends and cinematographic aesthetics with original ideas.
In addition to the projects selected as winners, there will be six alternate projects – one for each region of the country.. The prize for each selected project will consist of the 100 percent of budget submitted, with a cap of 4.500.000 of pesos. It should be noted that the stories must be of 14 minutes long and the choice of theme is free.
"Brief Stories", since its first edition in 1995, has become a classic in the promotion of new talents. Great directors and directors have made their first experiences in these productions; such is the case of Lucrecia Martel, Vanessa Ragone, Bruno Stagnaro, Daniel Burman, Adrian Caetano, Rodrigo Large, Hernan Belon, Santiago Loza, Andrés Muschietti and Mónica Lairana.
The compilation of the short films selected in each edition of the contest, results in the feature film Historias Breves, produced by INCAA and screened at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, at BAFICI and at the Gaumont Complex.
