Announced the programming of the Mar del Plata Film Festival

Through a meeting held at the Kirchner Cultural Center, the programming of the edition was made official 37 of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival that will take place between 3 and the 13 of November.

The only Class A Festival in all of Latin America will be made up of 180 movies from 28 countries, with a fully face-to-face development.

In this edition, the festival will highlight the figure and career of the filmmaker Leonardo Favio, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his death. Within that context, The same day (5 of November) the film “Juan Moreira” will be screened, of 1973. further, at the Teatro Colón the productions “El dependent” will be exhibited (1969) and “Nazareno Cruz and the wolf” (1975), both with free and open admission and in 35 mm.

The film that will kick off the Festival will be “Breathless”, the production of 1960 directed by Jean-Luc Godard, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg.

The 37th edition of the Festival was presented by the Minister of Culture of the Nation, Tristan Bauer; the acting vice-president of the INCAA Presidency, Nicolas Batlle; the president of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, Juan Fernando Lima; the executive director of the National Social Security Administration (CONSIDERED), Maria Fernanda Raventa; the president of the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires, Florencia Saintout; the artistic director of the Festival, Pablo Conde; and the coordinator of the INCAA National Cinematheque, Mariana Avramo.

As every year, The Mar del Plata International Film Festival will have a great program in its competitive and parallel sections, including the latest from great names in contemporary international cinema such as Lucrecia Martel, Hong Sang Soo, Albert Serra, Mia Hansen-Løve, Jafar Panahi, Martin Mcdonagh, Mark Mylod, Carla Simon, Joseph Campusano, Sebastian Lelio, Sam Mendes, Alice Rohrwacher, William of the Bull, Jonas Trueba, Bertrand Bonello, Dominik Moll, Raul Perrone and Quentin Dupieux, among others. further, there will be a spotlight dedicated to Heinz Emigholz.

The 37th edition will be visited by renowned figures from the world film industry, among which stand out that of the North American director John McTiernan, which will present his films “Die Hard” and “Predator”; and that of the French filmmaker Patricia Mazuy, which will accompany a retrospective of his work. Both will be part of the Talks with Teachers and Teachers, together with Marcos Uzal, current editor-in-chief of Cahiers du cinema magazine, the Portuguese director of photography Rui Poças and the Argentine producer and director Lita Stantic.

The juries of the different sections will be made up of Dolores Fonzi, Joe Wanberg, Inge Stache, Alexandre Koberidze, Alberto Lettuce, Lili Hinstin, Brad Deane, Constanza Novick, Gerard Hate, María José Santacreu, Leonardo Bomfim, Beli Martinez, peter safe, Jessica Sarah Rinland, Manuel Ferrari, Susana Santos Rodrigues and Miguel Ribeiro.

Among the special sections is the retrospective of Kinuyo Tanaka, one of the great Japanese directors and actresses, the focus of Stainless British Comedies and the Jonas Mekas show, with some of his short films and the presentation of a book of his authorship.

As part of the special activities, outdoor performances of "Argentina, 1985”, by Santiago Miter; “30 nights with my ex”, by Adrian Suar; "Alternate", by Diego Lerman; "The red ones", by Matias Lucchesi; and “The K.E.OP/S system”, by Nicolás Goldbart.
