The second Buenos Aires Poetry Festival began in La Plata

The Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires organizes the second edition of the Buenos Aires Poetry Festival, at the Provincial Arts Center Teatro Argentino de La Plata.

With free entry, The event will bring together more than 160 poets and 45 independent publishers, in a program that includes talks, readings, Tributes, publishing fair, slams, recitals and artistic activities.

One of the highlights will be the “Indio Poeta” tribute to the musician and lyricist Indio Solari, who has left a poetic mark on Argentine popular music. This celebration, with the participation of guitarist Gaspar Benegas and the performance of a string octet, It will be Saturday at 20 hours in the Ginastera Room. On the occasion, Valentina Cooke will perform live “Serenade of the Smoking Saints”, song that the Indian gave him, and the writer Marcelo Figueras will share unpublished poems and selected texts.

The weekend programming covers more than 40 activities, among which the dialogue between Diana Bellesi and Liliana Herrero stands out (Saturday 9, to 18:30 hours) and Osvaldo Bossi's duet with La Ferni (Sunday 10, to 18:30 hours), in addition to rap and trap performances. The play “The Silver Bullet” will also be offered. (Sunday 10, to 18:30 hours), starring Cristina Banegas and Karina Elsztein, with a staging based on the correspondence between Juan D. Peron and John William Cooke.

The tributes will continue with reminders to Buenos Aires poets and figures such as Roberto Juarroz (Saturday 9, to 14 hours), Aurora Venturini (Sunday 10, to 15:30 hours, with live music), and a special tribute to María Elena Walsh and photographer Sara Facio (Sunday 10, to 20 hours) with a photographic display of his legacy.

To add territorial diversity, The Cultural Institute convened poetry groups from various locations, adding up 13 cycles and regional festivals on the grid. In this context, Discussion panels will be held such as “Poetry in Times of Cruelty” (Saturday 9, to 16:30 hours) and “What AI cannot destroy”, a dialogue about the relationship between artificial intelligence and poetry (Sunday 10, to 14 hours).

The II Buenos Aires Poetry Festival is developed as part of the Book and Reading Strengthening Plan promoted by the provincial management, seeking to value the word and artistic diversity through a weekend full of poetry, music and cultural expressions.
