With “Don Quixote”, el Teatro Argentino despide su temporada artística
The Ballet and the Stable Orchestra of the Argentine Theater of La Plata close the season 2024 with “Don Quixote”, a great production that will have four free performances on the days 19, 20, 21 Y 22 December in the Alberto Ginastera Room.
Tickets will be available starting this Tuesday 17 December at 12 hours, both virtually, through the link published on the website and social networks of the Cultural Institute and the Theater, as in person for those over 65 years. The latter can be picked up at the theater box office until Tuesday., between the 12 and the 18 hours, presenting the ID.
With choreography adapted by Viktor Filimonov based on the originals by Marius Petipa and music by Ludwig Minkus and Vasili Soloviev-Sedoy, The work brings together more than 70 artists under the direction of María Fernanda Bianchi in the Ballet and Diego Censabella in the Orchestra. Nadia Osorio will alternate in the main roles, Aldana Percivati and Romina Panelo as Kitri, and Miguel Ángel Klug, Santiago Rojas and Emanuel Gómez as Basilio, while the rest of the cast will be made up of members of the Ballet Estable.
The scenery, by Augusto González Ara, includes large painted backdrops, windmills with moving blades and elements such as roofs, bars and chimneys. Eduardo Caldirola designed the costumes, adapting more than 130 suits, and Esteban Ivanec was in charge of the lighting. All the technical sections of the Theater participated in this production, which stands out for its impressive level of detail.
Based on an episode from the second part of Cervantes' novel, the ballet tells the love story between Kitri, an innkeeper's daughter, and Basil, a young barber. Faced with his father's opposition, who intends to marry her to a rich and older man, The couple will have the help of Don Quixote to achieve their union.
Considered one of the most important works in the classical ballet repertoire, “Don Quixote” was created by Marius Petipa and premiered at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in 1869. This piece, that combines humor, romanticism and virtuosity, continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
