The MAP prepares the virtual edition of the Textile Art Salon

A new edition will arrive online on Thursday - the 16- of the Textile Art Hall, the traditional meeting carried out by the Museum of Popular Art (MAP) Jose Hernandez.

The appointment will start from 18 and will be transmitted through YouTube channels and Instagram and Facebook accounts of the traditional Buenos Aires campus and the Museums area of ​​the City of Buenos Aires (@museosba).

On this occasion, the winners of the contest will be revealed and there will be a guided tour of the virtual exhibition that will be available on the museum's website.

In this context, the MAP will virtually exhibit the awarded and selected works that show the wealth of techniques that combine the traditional with the experimental, using organic materials, inorganic or synthetic, and that are expression of textures, volume and color.

In this way, will offer the visitor a wide and current sample of this artistic field. The expression "textile art" refers to works that are made up of warp and weft, so, unlike handicrafts, do not require a utilitarian function.

The Small and Medium Format Textile Art Salon is an event already installed in the Argentine cultural scene that grows year by year with a high participation and exchange of artists and proposals. Is this occasion, the jury was made up of three textile artists, with extensive experience in the field as María Silvia Corcuera, Monica Fierro and Gabriela Nirino.

The virtual exhibition will be accompanied by a varied program of activities that will take place on Thursdays at 18, until the 21 of January of 2021. There will be talks on trends in textile art in Latin America, talks with artists who will tell us about experimental textiles and design, the artist Berta Teglio will take us into textile art with unconventional materials, in addition to recreational and didactic online activities in charge of the educational area of ​​MAP.
