The works to enhance the value of the Alvear Theater are advancing, one of the icons of Corrientes Avenue that will return in the middle of next month.

It is worth noting that these works that are carried out through the Buenos Aires Government and the Buenos Aires Theater Complex (CTBA) correspond to the second stage, which began last August and is currently in the final part.

Under that context, the works contemplated the integral improvement of the room, stage and dressing rooms, among others.

About these final works, Buenos Aires Minister of Culture Enrique Avogadro said that "we are happy to announce to the neighbors, tourists and the entire artistic community, what, from july, all those who live and visit the City will be able to witness the reopening of the beloved Alvear Theater”.

The head of the City Culture billboard added that it is "an emblematic scene of Corrientes street, that it will shine again and be an icon of the culture of our city”.

Likewise, Gabriela Ricardes, The director of the CTBA stated that this venue "completes and complements the network of the Buenos Aires Theater Complex", explaining that "we start from the challenge of recovering its architecture and putting it in dialogue with the present; to modernize its scenic conditions and at the same time recover the old systems necessary for its operation”.

Ricardes detalló que el objetivo principal de estas tareas fue el de “dotar de comodidad y seguridad a los artistas, to the creators and to the public. A work that sought to preserve the essence and express the unique character of this iconic theater of culture”.

Due, “We are proud of the result and of the process that involved the CTBA workers, without whom it would not have been possible”, finished Ricardes.

It is worth noting the task carried out by the artist and set designer Julieta Ascar, who was in charge of the aesthetic conception of the theatrical architectural restoration.

The works sought to combine traditional arts and crafts with new technologies and it was Ascar who took as a starting point to revitalize the organic forms of the original architecture of the auditorium, including the chromatic palette recovering materials such as bronzes, wood and original paint colors.
