The director and choreographer Gustavo Friedenberg will premiere “Inhabiting a Bird,” his new proposal that mixes dance and object theater and which can be enjoyed at the Cooperation Cultural Center (CCC).

This show will debut on 22 August and is based on the Spanish story “The Metamorphosis of Mr.. López”, by the playwright Rubén Pérez Pompo. In this text, a “gray” man begins his journey until he becomes a winged being. It is worth noting that the work was awarded the Iberescena Prize.

The functions will be from the 20.30 in the Solidaridad Room of the traditional Buenos Aires venue located on Corrientes Avenue 1543.

“Inhabiting a bird” explores the narrative and poetic possibilities of dance in its encounter with puppets and object theater.

through this text, the story metaphorically explores issues of gender and diversity. There the protagonist will go on an internal journey until he achieves his own evolution..

As Friedenberg explains, “From the moment I read Rubén's story I felt like putting it on stage.”. In this way he asked himself “How not to be seduced by the story of a man who ends up turned into a bird?”?”.

“I think it struck me that the protagonist was a common, old guy.; "Dance hardly deals with old bodies and the bodies of dance have little in common.", Friedenberg assured.. It also “made me think of my old man who, after retiring, let a hitherto unknown side of himself emerge.”.

The director and choreographer decided “to work with puppets because I always found them fascinating.”; They are very similar to us, but not completely and this almost humanity makes them deeply disturbing, giving life to a world that looks like ours but that, Without a doubt, It is of an order as magical as it is mysterious.. That's what theater is for me.".

The work features interpretations by Daniela Fiorentino, Eliana Pereira Rejala and Friedenberg himself, under general production of Animales Danza Teatro.

As for inputs, They can be obtained at the theater box office or through the Alternativa system..
