The Museo de Arte Popular José Hernández (MAP) will carry out this Wednesday the inauguration of the XVIII Exhibition of Textile Art in Small and Medium Format, meeting organized by the BA Museums area.

The new edition will be officially inaugurated from 18 in the premises of Avenida del Libertador 2373, where the annual call in which national and foreign artists participate will be reflected.

In this way, the public will be able to appreciate the works selected and awarded by the jury, that will offer the visitor a wide and current sample of this artistic field.

In this exhibition you can see works that show the wealth of techniques that combine the traditional with the experimental, using organic materials, inorganic or synthetic, and that are expression of textures, volume and color. The expression of textile art refers to the works that are made up of warp and weft, so, unlike handicrafts, does not require a utility function.

Like all years, This Hall was declared of Cultural Interest by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. The jury was made up of renowned visual artists Berta Teglio, Emilia Demichelis and Alejandro Bovo Theiler.

In small format, the 1st Prize was obtained by Gabriela Varela with the work “river amphora”. The 2nd Prize is for Fernanda González Campo with “Lobizona” of the Vernacular Criptozoology series and the 3rd Prize goes to Carolina Boverini with Perfect Symbiosis. The special mention of the jury was for the work “El circulante” -from the series Hormonal Beings by Vanesa Zorn.

In medium format, the 1st Prize goes to Rosario de Zuvirìa with the work “safeguard”. El 2° Premio es para Luisa Baum con De espaldas al pasado. The 3rd Prize is Graciela Seró Montero with the work “star dust. Disintegration-reintegration”. The jury's special mention went to “The ship” the Marian Cvik.

further, the exhibition will be accompanied by a public program with a varied program of activities, face-to-face and/or virtual demonstrations and talks.
