The 32nd Children's and Youth Book Fair was inaugurated
The Official Opening Ceremony of the 32nd Children's and Youth Book Fair was held in the Hall of Honor of the former Central Post Office.
The opening was given by the author Pablo Bernasconi, accompanied by the Secretary of Culture of the Nation, Leonardo Cifelli; the Secretary of Education of the Nation, Carlos Torrendell, and the President of the El Libro Foundation, Alejandro Vaccaro.
Leonardo Cifelli expressed: “It is an honor to participate in this emblematic fair”, reaffirming its commitment to cultural accessibility. Carlos Torrendell added: “It is a joy and an honor to be able to be here”, highlighting the importance of joining efforts in the face of current challenges. Alejandro Vaccaro thanked the young people and children who will attend, pointing out: “Even those of us who think differently can be together and work so that an event of these characteristics can take place”.
Pablo Bernasconi, known for works such as *Burundí* and *Black Leather, white cow*, provided a “album talk” with illustrations. In his speech, highlighted the role of publishers and the responsibility of editors in the current context. “Literature saved me”, shared, underscoring the importance of the State in culture. He also spoke about the “dictatorship of like” and the advance of artificial intelligence in the publishing industry, stating that “The only way to face these threats is to put soul into things”.
The Children's and Youth Book Fair will be open until Sunday 28 of July, With free entry, in Sarmiento 151.
