With a budget of more than one billion pesos and a call for 14 subjects, the City of Buenos Aires opened the call for a new edition of Patronage.

Patronage is neither more nor less than the most important tool for cultural promotion that the City has, with a contribution of 1,200 million pesos destined to the promotion of cultural reconstruction in the context of the pandemic.

Before this new launch, the Buenos Aires Minister of Culture, Enrique Avogadro, stated that "throughout 2020 We accompany the cultural sector with the Economic Aid Plan that involved an extraordinary fund of around the 40 percent "and added that in turn, "We generate different support tools for the sector in emergencies".

Faced with this approach, “This year we will continue working in that line because we believe that culture plays a fundamental role in social reconstruction. Through Patronage, We seek to promote the cultural reconstruction of the City, open the doors to new ideas to become projects, incorporate them into our cultural life and allow their future projection in the current context of the pandemic ", added the official.

Avogadro also stressed that the continuity of Patronage at this time is essential because, as we always say, culture is much more than entertainment: it is a tool to generate social and emotional well-being. In this sense, Patronage is the bridge that connects thousands of cultural projects with the economic resources to make them a reality and continue working for the reactivation of a cultural sector that spent months trying to adapt to the current reality and that we do not want it to stop due to restrictions ".

Patronage is the financing program of the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires that allows the development of artistic-cultural projects through the contribution of taxpayers who pay tax on Gross Income, committed to the culture of the City. Anyone, association or non-profit organization that has a research proposal, training, diffusion, Cultural creation and / or production can be presented with your project to Patronage. Because it is through Cultural Participation Patronage that taxpayers who pay the Gross Income tax in CABA can allocate part of the payment to support these artistic-cultural projects.

It is a tool that encourages the participation of the private sector in the cultural life of Buenos Aires and generates opportunities for creators.

In 2020, they presented themselves 2.294 Projects, of which were selected 1.438 for a total of 962.164.682 pesos. Despite the pandemic 200 projects have already received your contributions and may become a reality. It is worth mentioning that once the project is selected, you have two years to find patrons, carry out the project and be accountable.
